| 🚉 South — Pukekohe to Homai | |
| Pukekohe | Pukekohe is the southern terminus of the Auckland electric rail network — a thriving Franklin town centre with a strong local character, excellent cafes and restaurants, major retail, and a range of community facilities. The electrification of the Papakura–Pukekohe line was completed in 2025, making Pukekohe a full part of the Auckland rapid transit network for the first time. The town centre on King Street and Edinburgh Street is a 5-minute walk from the station, with most amenities close by. |
| Paeraatā New 2026 | Paeraatā is a new station being built to serve one of Auckland's fastest-growing new communities — Paerata Rise — as well as the historic Wesley College campus and commuters from the broader Pukekohe North, Patumahoe, Glenbrook and rural Franklin area. The station will have a substantial park and ride facility and a connecting bus service linking directly to Paerata Rise, making car-free commuting a real option for residents of the new development from day one. |
| Drury New 2026 | Drury is a fast-growing town south of Papakura, set to transform significantly over the next decade. The new train station will serve the established Drury village on Great South Road as well as the emerging Auranga community to the west — a large new development centred around waterfront walkways along the Drury Creek and Hingaia Stream. New homes are also coming soon to Waihoehoe Road. A major new retail centre is planned for the area around the station, which will make Drury a significant destination in South Auckland. In the meantime, the existing Drury township has a handful of excellent cafes and restaurants well worth visiting. |
| Papakura | Papakura is the southern terminus of the Auckland rail network — a well-established town centre with a selection of cafes, restaurants and bars, and a range of community facilities. It is also a retail hub with a Farmers store, Noel Leeming, Woolworths and New World supermarkets, and lots of interesting small businesses. The station sits right at the edge of the town centre, with most amenities within easy walking distance. Papakura is also a major bus interchange, with routes serving the wider Papakura area as well as rural communities to the south. |
| Takaanini | Takaanini Station serves the adjacent suburbs of Takanini and Conifer Grove, and the Takanini industrial area immediately to the north — a large employment zone with warehouses, light manufacturing and logistics businesses. The station is a practical choice for commuters from the wider Takanini, Conifer Grove, Clevedon and Ardmore areas, with a substantial park and ride facility making it easy to drive to the station and continue by train into the city. Connecting bus services on Great South Road link to Papakura, Manurewa and Manukau. |
| Te Mahia | Te Mahia is a quiet residential station serving the communities of Manurewa East, Manurewa South, Randwick Park and Waiata Shores — a newer waterfront neighbourhood alongside the Papakura Stream estuary. The station is a useful starting point for two excellent walking and cycling routes: the Waiata Shores Esplanade Path, which follows Papakura Stream south to the sea, and the Southern Path, a dedicated shared path running from Great South Road through to Karaka. |
| Manurewa | Manurewa is a large, established South Auckland suburb with a friendly town centre on Great South Road. A short distance from the station is the Manurewa Library, two well-regarded gyms, fresh seafood and a cluster of good local cafes and restaurants. About 15 minutes on foot — or a short bus ride on Route 366 — is Nathan Homestead, one of Auckland's finest historic houses set in beautiful gardens with the Pukepuke Café on site, and the Auckland Botanic Gardens a further 10 minutes walk beyond. Manurewa Station is also a significant bus interchange, with multiple routes connecting to Weymouth, Papakura, Wattle Downs and Ōtara. |
| Homai | Homai is a residential suburb of South Auckland, with a station that serves as a practical transport hub for the community. A short walk from the platform is the Netball Manurewa Community & Events Centre — a thriving multisport hub used by over 1,000 players each season, with indoor and outdoor courts, a large events hall and the new Bike Hub Manurewa. Next door on McVilly Road is the BLENNZ Homai Campus — the Blind and Low Vision Education Network New Zealand's national base. |
| 🔀 Shared with the East West Line — Puhinui to Ōtāhuhu | |
| Puhinui | Puhinui Station has one primary purpose for most passengers — it is Auckland's best public transport connection to Auckland Airport. The AirportLink bus departs from directly outside the station every 10 minutes, running from 4:30am to 12:30am, 7 days a week, to both Auckland Domestic and International Terminals. The train and bus combination is by far the most reliable, affordable and stress-free way to reach the airport from the city. Transfer here to the East West Line for a quick 5-minute ride to Manukau. |
| Papatoetoe | Papatoetoe is a busy, multicultural South Auckland suburb well served by both the South City and East West Lines. Shirley Road and Rangitoto Road, just minutes from the station, are home to excellent cafes, Filipino and Indian bakeries, and authentic South Asian and Sri Lankan restaurants. Kohuora Park is right behind the station, and the Allan Brewster Leisure Centre is nearby. Papatoetoe is also a useful bus transfer point for connections to Māngere, Old Papatoetoe, Hunters Corner and Manukau. |
| Middlemore | Middlemore Station has one primary purpose — to serve Middlemore Hospital, one of New Zealand's largest and most comprehensive public hospitals, which sits directly outside the station entrance. The train is by far the most practical way to reach the hospital for visitors, patients and staff, avoiding the considerable difficulty and cost of parking on the campus. The bus stop and train station are both located directly outside the Hospital Road entrance. Also served by the East West Line. |
| Ōtāhuhu | Ōtāhuhu is one of Auckland's most culturally rich and vibrant town centres — a densely packed high street with some of the best and most affordable multicultural dining in the city, drawing food lovers from across Auckland. The town centre is about 10 minutes on foot from the station — or a 2-minute bus ride with buses running every 5 to 10 minutes, with Vietnamese, Malaysian, Thai, Indo-Fijian and Pacific Island cuisine all within easy reach. Ōtāhuhu Station is also a major South Auckland bus interchange, connecting train passengers to Māngere, Ōtara, Highbrook, Hunters Corner and beyond. Also served by the East West Line. |
| 🚉 Inner South — Penrose to Newmarket | |
| Penrose | Penrose is a major employment and industrial hub in south-central Auckland — home to significant corporate offices including Fletcher Building, Te Whatu Ora Digital and Fisher & Paykel Appliances, all within easy walking distance of the station. It is also the gateway station for Mount Smart Stadium (Go Media Stadium), Auckland's largest outdoor concert and sporting venue, just 15–20 minutes on foot and home to the Warriors NRL team and Auckland FC. The train is by far the easiest way to reach the stadium on event days, avoiding road congestion and the difficult parking situation nearby. Change here for the Onehunga West Line to access Onehunga. |
| Ellerslie | Ellerslie is one of Auckland's most underrated South City Line stations — the train drops you directly into a thriving village centre on Main Highway, with an excellent selection of cafes, restaurants and bars all within a few minutes' walk. Between the station and Great South Road lies a significant concentration of corporate office parks, making Ellerslie one of the most practical train commutes in Auckland's south. |
| Greenlane | Greenlane is a quiet but well-connected station on the South City Line, sitting at the intersection of Great South Road and Greenlane Road. The surrounding area punches well above its weight — Kākāriki Hospital and the large Allevia Hospital Ascot precinct (including White Cross Ascot urgent care) are a short walk away, along with the Ascot Office Park medical complex and the Ellerslie Racecourse. Cornwall Park and Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill are reachable by bus. The Allevia Hospital and Ellerslie Racecourse are accessed by turning right out of the station, crossing the underpass and motorway. |
| Remuera | Remuera is one of Auckland's most attractive South City Line stations — a beautifully restored heritage building at the intersection of Market Road and Great South Road. The immediate surrounds are modest but rewarding: a cluster of excellent independent cafes are within a couple of minutes' walk, along with a 24-hour gym. |
| Newmarket | Newmarket is one of Auckland's best shopping and dining destinations. | Grafton | Grafton serves many key destinations, as it is adjacent to Auckland's largest hospital, two university campuses, the Auckland Domain and two of the city's most prestigious schools — all just a short 6-minute ride from the city. The station is used heavily by hospital staff, students, and visitors to the Domain. The southern entrance on Khyber Pass Road places commuters directly across from Les Mills and the University of Auckland's Newmarket campus. |
| Karanga-a-Hape CRL 2026 | Karangahape Road — universally known as K Road — is one of Auckland's most distinctive and culturally rich streets. | Te Waihorotiu CRL 2026 | Te Waihorotiu Station is named for the Waihorotiu Stream that once flowed through this valley before being buried beneath Queen Street. Located on Albert Street between Wellesley and Victoria Streets, the station sits at the geographic heart of Auckland's cultural, entertainment and civic life — the Aotea Quarter arts precinct, SkyCity, the International Convention Centre, the Auckland Art Gallery, and the city's main universities are all within easy walking distance. Wellesley Street will serve as a dedicated bus interchange, making Te Waihorotiu the best-connected station on the Auckland network. Also served by the East West Line. |
| Waitematā | Waitematā Station — known for most of its life as Britomart — is Auckland's central rail hub, sitting beneath the heritage General Post Office building at the foot of Queen Street.
