Newmarket is Auckland's second busiest train station and one of its best shopping and dining destinations. The station sits at the foot of Broadway, directly beside Westfield 277 — a sprawling two-site mall connected by sky bridges, with luxury brands, a rooftop bar strip and free weekday parking. A short walk south reveals Newmarket's best-kept secret: Nuffield, Teed, Osbourne and Khyber Pass Road, lined with outstanding independent cafes, restaurants and bars that attract a local crowd rather than a tourist one.

The rooftop houses John Barleycorn's Taphouse, Something & Social, a playground and more. Free parking weekdays (3 hours with membership). Open daily — late-night Thursday and Friday until 9pm.
