Lincoln Interchange

Northwest Busway — a key transfer point on the Northwestern Motorway

Lincoln Bus Interchange is a key transfer point on the Northwestern Motorway, connecting the WX1 to local services covering Waitākere Hospital, Henderson, Ranui, Swanson and the wider Waitākere area. It sits at the north end of the Lincoln Road retail precinct, though the main shops are over 1km south so it's best to transfer to another bus to access them.

Food

A slight detour from the interchange, but worth every minute — one of Auckland's most celebrated hidden gems.

Cielito Lindo

★★★★★4.6(615 reviews)

Tucked into an unassuming industrial pocket just off Lincoln Road — "turn right past a rotting boat, descend into a nondescript industrial zone... if you get to the dump, you've gone too far" — Cielito Lindo has long been touted as Auckland's best Mexican food. Founded by Eliseo Delgado Munoz, originally from Mexico, the short menu of tacos, sopes, nachos and quesadillas is bright, fresh and full of flavour. "Absolutely no notes on the food, 10/10." The nopales (cactus) taco is a genuine standout, and the tinga nachos are "cheesy and glorious." A proper destination worth the walk — cash and eftpos accepted, takeaway only. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Trusts Arena

A 20-minute walk, but well worth it on event nights to skip the traffic and expensive rideshares.

The Trusts Arena

★★★★4.3(2,290 reviews)

A major sports and events venue hosting concerts, expos and indoor sport — home to an indoor sprint track, an outdoor field track and excellent public sports facilities. "Easy to access, although the traffic was quite messy" is the most common complaint from drivers — event nights bring serious congestion to the surrounding streets and parking can be scarce. Walking the 20 minutes from Lincoln Interchange sidesteps all of that, and avoids the surge-priced rideshare queue that builds up after big shows. Recent acts have included international touring artists and major concerts.
