Little French Cafe
An Auckland institution — featured in the New York Times' 2023 travel guide for pastries "rivalling Paris' best." Run by ex-Clooney pastry chef Benjamin Chevré, the café serves authentic croissants, tarts, croque madame, baguettes and seasonal pastries. Freshly baked cabinet goods sell out fast. Across the road from Rocket Park playground.

The Parkside Cafe & Restaurant
A lovely local spot on New North Road with a Vietnamese-influenced menu — the coffee is top-notch and the brisket pie is a standout. The owner knows regulars by name. Opens for dinner Thursday to Saturday evenings, making it one of the few places near the station for an evening meal.

Mt Albert Community & Leisure Centre
A well-run community facility next to the Mt Albert War Memorial Reserve. Offers a gym, group fitness classes, sports programmes for children, and venue hire. Also home to Good Time Cafe — a charming weekday café inside the centre with excellent coffee and house-made baked goods (Mon–Fri 7am–2pm). Close to Rocket Park playground. Staffed by a friendly and welcoming team.

Rocket Park
Mount Albert's much-loved playground, named for its iconic rocket ship climbing structure with telescope at the top. Fully fenced along the road edge for safety, with soft matting throughout. Features separate areas for toddlers and older kids, swings, jungle gyms and a flying fox behind the community centre. Picnic tables, toilet facilities and a shaded seating area on site. Cafes and shops just across the road.

Chamberlain Park Golf Course
New Zealand's most popular public golf course — an 18-hole council-owned course with well-maintained fairways, a pro shop, motorised carts for hire, and two qualified golf professionals for lessons. Play 9 or 18 holes at very reasonable green fees. No bookings required — first in, first served. Open daily 6am until dusk, 365 days (closed Christmas Day). Clubhouse and pro shop on site.
